4 November 2019 – The 2019 Sasol League National Championships currently underway in Tsakane, Gauteng Province is starting to head towards the business end with 9 Provincial champions fighting it out for the prized title.

The two finalists will, apart from earning promotion into the SAFA Women’s National Women’s League, stand a chance to earn a staggering first cash prize of R250 000.

So competitive is this year’s championships which has seen Eastern Cape’s Executive Ladies already eliminated after conceding 19 goals in two matches.

The Eastern Cape side were given a harsh lesson in both their matches, losing 12-0 to Gauteng Champions JVW in their opening match and conceding another 7 goals with no response against Limpopo Champions Ma Indies in the second match of Day 2 of the Sasol League National Championships.

KwaZulu-Natal’s Sunflower FC expressed their intentions against Ixias from the Free State, when they opened Day 2 with an 8-0 win over the team that staged a great comeback in their opening match on Day 1.

Nkomazi Ladies earned their first three points of the week-long tournament after beating Royal Wizards 3-1 in the last match of Day 2.

Day 3 of the 2019 Sasol League National Championships will see a mouthwatering encounter between experienced sides Ma Indies and JVW at 10h30. Royal Wizards will face Royal Queens at 13h00, while Sunflower FC will be looking for their second 3 points when they take on Vasco Da Gama in the last group stage match at 15h30.

A draw will be conducted after the group stage matches to ensure that the best 2nd placed teams do not play the winner of the same group in the knockout stages.
