25 November 2019 – The South African Football Association (SAFA) has congratulated a number of South Africans candidates nominated for the upcoming 2019 CAF top awards.
The list of nominees is compiled by a panel of media and technical professionals and the awards will take place on Tuesday 7 January 2020 in Hurghada, Egypt.
Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Pitso Mosimane has been nominated for the Coach of the Year award and is among the five South Africans nominated for the prestigious awards honoring soccer on the African continent.
Mosimane is joined by Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis (CAF Women’s Coach of the Year), Percy Tau (CAF Men’s Player of the Year), Thembi Kgatlana and Refiloe Jane (CAF Women’s Player of the Year and Themba Zwane (CAF Inter-Club Player of the Year).
“We are proud of these nominations and goes to show where South Africa is as far as progress (of Football) on the African continent is concerned.
“I am very confident that even when the list is whittled down, most of these candidates will be among the top on the continent,” said SAFA President, Dr Danny Jordaan.
