9 October 2019– Bafana Bafana’s injury situation is improving with every passing day.

After several players reported to the national team camp with knocks – it was pleasing to see that on day 3 of training all but one attended the squad’s training session.

Striker Lebo Mothiba watched from the sidelines as he is nursing a groin injury, while both Dean Furman and Ronwen Williams attended their first training session since the start of camp – and came out unscathed.

Forward Percy Tau is under medical observation after limping during the drills.

Bafana Bafana’s session was held in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday afternoon (9 October) – the first in the coastal city.

The South African Senior Men’s National Team was out at Wolfson Stadium in KwaZakhele to train in front of their adoring fans.

The spectators were invited to the field afterwards to meet their heroes up close and personal – to shake hands and shoot photos with the players.

About 300 fans braved the cold and wet weather to come and watch training.

“This is what the national team is all about – we must not forget that these players are the heroes of these fans and, where possible, we must open our doors to them and spend some time with them. You never know what this interaction will do – maybe someday one of these spectators will tell a story that I got inspired to play football and show commitment on that day when I met the players at Wolfson Stadium, and look at me now,” said Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki.

“We must never underestimate the power of both parties – players inspiring the fans, and on the other hand, the fans giving a confidence boost to the players. This was a great exercise and it was beneficial to everyone.”
