2 October 2019 – Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki, has lauded South African forward Percy Tau after the Club Brugge striker put on a sterling performance in a UEFA Champions League clash against Spanish giants Real Madrid on Tuesday night (1 October 2019) at the imposing Santiago Bernabeu cauldron.
Making his debut in his club’s second group stage match of the competition, Tau was a menace to the defence of the more established Real Madrid, which saw Club Brugge take a 2-0 lead in the first half before the Spanish giants salvaged a 2-2 draw.
Ntseki says Tau’s performance should encourage his compatriots to also do well so they play at that level for the good of the Senior Men’s National team.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns striker joins other South African players who have graced the UEFA Champions League tournament like Steven Pienaar, Lucas Radebe, Thulani Serero, Benni McCarthy, Dino Ndlovu, Quinton Fortune, Hans Vonk and Nasief Morris among others.
Next, Club Brugge will host the star-studded Paris St Germain later this month (22 October) – but before then, he will be part of the Bafana Bafana’s squad that will take on Mali in the 2019 Nelson Mandela Challenge scheduled for the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
The match takes place on Sunday, 13 October 2019 and kicks off at 15h00. (Tickets for the Nelson Mandela Challenge are already on sale at Checkers and Shoprite Checkers stores countrywide).
