27 September 2019 — Clapham defended their Sanlam Kay Motsepe Schools Cup title following an 8-1 hiding on debutants Siphokuhle High, who came into this tie highly motivated for a win.

This counts as Clapham’s fifth Sanlam Kay Motsepe Schools Cup title, after having won it four times before in other editions.

In this matchup which took place in the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein, Siphokuhle were there first ones to register their name on the score sheet when Mvusani Mthethwa slotted past the opposition’s goalkeeper to put his side in a lead.

That goal came in just three minutes into the first half.

However, the tables soon turned when Clapham came back four minutes later to eventually score four goals before the halftime break.

Clapham’s first goal came in the 9th minute when Tlotliso Ndziwa unleashed a powerful shot inside the 18-yard box to put his side back into the game, following a sweet assist by eventual Player and joint Top Goal-scorer of the Tournament, Raidre Vries on the near side.

Five minutes later, Thando Buthelezi put Clapham in the lead following a brilliant solo run into the 18-yard box before coolly converting a well taken shot straight into the back of the net.

From this point onwards, Clapham took full control of the match as they dictated matters in each third of the pitch.

Vries made it 4-0 with a brilliant finish just six minutes before halftime.

In the second half, Clapham continued with where they left off in the first half and scored an extra four goal with Vries and fellow joint Sanlam Kay Motsepe Schools Cup Top Goal-scorer of the Tournament, Tlotlego Pitso, scoring two goals each to give the Gauteng side a convincing win.
