23 September 2019 — Bloemfontein will for the first time ever, host this year’s Sanlam Kay Motsepe Schools Cup where a total of 18 schools will be battling it out in pursuit of the coveted R1 million first prize money.

This tournament is scheduled to run from 24 – 27 September at the University of the Free State sporting grounds.

Runners up of this tournament will get R600 000, while third place finishers will receive R 500 000. Fourth place finishers will also bag R400 000 for reaching the final four of this year’s Sanlam Kay Motsepe Schools Cup edition.

The 18 teams compete in this tournament will be split into four groups (Group A, B, C & D), where group winners will automatically earn their place in to the knockout stages of this tournament.

Sanlam Kay Motsepe Schools Cup representative, Frank Louw, congratulated all the schools which reached this year’s Sanlam Kay Motsepe Schools Cup finals, adding that he wished them nothing but the best of luck in this tournament.

“We just wrapped up the provincial finals where participating teams of this year’s Sanlam Kay Motsepe Schools Cup national finals were confirmed,” Louw said. “This is the biggest schools football tournament in Africa and we want to wish all participating teams nothing but the very best of luck in this year’s edition.

“They should just go out there, play fair and enjoy themselves”.
