The SAFA Chatsworth Mzansi Fire & Security Senior knock-out cup’ quarter-finals were played over the past weekend across the four main divisions i.e. Premier; Division One, Two and Three.

The Premier Division saw league leaders Summerfield Dynamos beating Rangers 3-1 while Sunset United edged out Montford Heights F.C. 1-0.  Dimes United overcame Young Clydes and Montford Sports defeated Meadford Sporting. The semi-finals will see Sunset United pitted against Dimes United while Summerfield Dynamos will lock horns with Montford Sports.

Division One saw Greenstoke City disposing of the youthful Bluff Rangers 2-0 while Croftdene F.C. beat Chatsworth Rangers 2-1. Both league contenders Manning Rangers and Summerfield City saw off Rangers F.C. and Welbedacht Academy respectively.  Manning Rangers managed to beat their rivals on penalties while Summerfield City edged out Welbedacht 2-1.  Greenstoke City will meet Croftdene F.C. in the first semi-final while Rangers and City will do battle in the other semi-final, which should prove to be a humdinger according to Paddy Perumal, the competitions convenor.

The Division Two semi-finals will see third placed Young Clydes taking on Chatsworth Rangers while bottom placed Protea Celtic and Arena Spurs F.C. contest the other semi.  Chatsworth Rangers eliminated Chatsworth United 5-4 on penalties while Arena Spurs saw off Croftdene F.C. 3-1, also on penalties. High flying Montford Sports were humbled by Protea Celtic 4-2 in yet another penalty shootout while Young Clydes eliminated Sunset United by a solitary goal.

The Division Three quarter finals saw high flying Welbedacht F.C. thrashing their neighbours Young Stars 5-2 in a local derby. Montford Heights defeated Arena Park F.C. by a goal to nil.  Second placed Woodhurst F.C. defeated Havenside Sporting 4-2 while Bayview United edged out Township Rovers in a penalty shootout.  The first semi-final will see second placed Woodhurst F.C. taking on Bayview United while log leaders Welbedacht F.C. are pitted against Montford Heights.

According to Perumal, the semi-finals will be played during the weekend of 5/6 October 2019 with the finals scheduled for 10 November 2019 at the Chatsworth Stadium.  The semi-finals will prove to be tense affairs as every team will be eyeing the share of the R35 000 prize money sponsored by Mzansi Fire and Security.
