12 September 2019 – Mamelodi Sundowns and Tshwane University of Technology are the current frontrunners of the SAFA National Women’s League. While its only two rounds of matches that have been played in the inaugural edition of the tournament, the two Tshwane sides will draw confidence from their good start to the season.

Both sides registered their second consecutive victories this past weekend when Mamelodi Sundowns cruised past University of Johannesburg 3-0 while TUT brought Thunderbird Ladies down to earth with a 5-2 victory.

The highlight of this past weekend was indeed Bloemfontein Celtics’ introduction of 14-year-old Kanalelo Taiwe who came on in the second half to score her first goal in the SAFA National Women’s League.

Celtics went on to win the tie 6-0 in a one-sided clash over Durban Ladies and maintain their title chase as they occupy second position.

Another exciting fixture that took place this past weekend was the thrilling 2-2 draw between Coal City Wizards and First Touch Academy. First Touch are still in search of their first victory of the season following their 4-2 loss to Tshwane University of Technology.
