30 August 2019 – Head coach of the Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana Desiree Ellis has announced her starting lineup for the first leg second round clash of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics qualifier against Botswana tonight (Friday, 30 August 2019).

Ellis has made three changes to the team that started in South Africa’s last match (the final of the 2019 COSAFA Women’s Championship against Zambia in Port Elizabeth).

South Africa and Botswana meet at the National Stadium in Gaborone with a 19h00 kickoff.

Andile Dlamini retains her place in goals.

There is only one change in defence with Lithuania-based Nothando Vilakazi taking over left back duties from Bongeka Gamede. Lebohang Ramalepe continues at right back, so does the central defence pairing of Bambanani Mbane and Tiisetso Makhubela.

Mbane will be making her 50thappearance for Banyana Banyana – she made her debut in 2016 against the same Botswana.

The trio of Mamello Makhabane, captain Refiloe Jane and Robyn Moodaly is in midfield, assisted by wingers Rhoda Mulaudzi and Amanda Mthandi, while Jermaine Seoposenwe is the main striker.

Mulaudzi and Seoposenwe take the places of Busisiwe Ndimeni and Noxolo Cesane.

The return leg will be played on Tuesday, 3 September at Orlando Stadium in Soweto.

Kickoff is at 19h00.
