29 August 2019 – RV United head coach, Vuyolwethu Khayi, has praised his team’s Western Cape Sasol League opponents Burnley United, ahead of their Saturday clash at Metropolitan Sports Complex.

The head coach, who is also a co-founder of the team, praised the relegation-threatened side and discussed their first-round game against them where he believes they showed quality.

RV United narrowly beat Burnley 1-0 in the first round just over three months ago and the gaffer expects more of the same fighting spirit from the outfit who are sitting three points from safety.

“There are no easy games in the Sasol League,” Khayi told SAFA.net. “Whether it is against a title-rival or relegation-threatened, the fight for the three points is always intense.”

The experienced mentor who’s well into his ninth season as an RV United head coach went on to describe his opponent’s quality all over the pitch before warning his players of complacency and the consequences of underestimating their opponents.

“I know they have a very good midfield with young and talented players and that’s their strength going forward, but they also have a very good defence which proved almost impossible for us to break to in the first round.”

“We have to be on top of our game to come back with a win. It’s never easy playing in the Sasol League but we have a squad which will take us through,” Khayi added.

RV United is currently fourth in the Western Cape Sasol League standings, eight points behind league leaders Vasco da Gama who have played a game more than United’s 19.
