28 August 2019 The South African Senior Women’s National Team (Banyana Banyana) arrived in Gaborone, Botswana late afternoon on Wednesday (28 August) in high spirits ahead of their first leg second round of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics qualifier against the Zebras of Botswana on Friday, 30 August 2019.

The match will be played at National Stadium in Gaborone at 19h00.

Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana, who are the reigning queens of the COSAFA Championship, will be looking for the away win before travelling back to South Africa for the second leg match on Tuesday, 3 September 2019.

Ellis’s charges checked into their hotel in Botswana and headed straight for a late training session.

“We have to maximize all the time we have as we have only been in camp for two days now, and we needed to allow the players as much time to acclimatize as possible because it is extremely hot in Gaborone, especially for this time of the year,”said Banyana Banyana head coach Desiree Ellis.

The squad returns to South Africa on Saturday, 31 August.
