28 August 2019 – The National Futsal League hosted by the South African Indoor Football Association (SAIFA) continued with its fixtures this past weekend when the Mother City played host to an amazing Futsal Extravaganza with a total of 6 games played over 2 days.
In addition to the National Futsal matches, Futsal Association Cape Town (FACT) had their own programme on Saturday, 24 August 2019 whereby young Futsal players displayed their talent in the U10, U12, U14 and girls U14 divisions. This was exciting and good to see that the development of Futsal at Grassroots does exist and gaining momentum in spreading to the different areas within our country.
Congratulations and well done to all involved in making this past weekend a success. Thank you, keep up the good work and continue to develop this wonderful game of Futsal.
With one more Festival to come, teams were looking at getting maximum points to secure their positions on the log especially with Young Natalians and Ethekwini City level on points and chasing the ultimate title of LEAGUE CHAMPIONS.

Young Natalians (14) beat Tshwane City (0)
An encounter which was one sided from the start and proved to be as the home team scored ten (10) unanswered goals in the first half which left the visitors a huge challenge if they were to come back and upset the applecart but was definitely an impossible task.
The second half was no different to the first as the home team dominated the game from all departments which allowed the Coach to rest some of his senior players. They scored a further four (4) unanswered goals and won the match by a whopping fourteen (14) goals to nil (0). This was the same score conceded by Tshwane City when they met in their first round encounter.
Goals for Young Natalians scored by Roberto Slater (3), Simphiwe Ndzimbovu (4), Kendall Van Wyhe (1), Azile Diko (1) and Quincy Ngcobo (5).
Ethekwini City (11) beat Maritzburg Hotspurs (7)
Another match that kept everyone on the edge of their seat with end to end action that saw both teams fighting hard to stay in the lead but this was not the case. As and when a team scored the other quickly regrouped and equalized which resulted in both teams scoring five (5) goals each in the first half.
The second half was no different to the first even though the score says otherwise. Both teams attacked early in the second half that resulted in five (5) goals in five minutes to give the home team a slender lead by one goal with the score 8 – 7. Some sloppy defending late in the second half led to the home team scoring three (3) goals that eventually was enough to secure the three points.
Goals for Ethekwini City scored by Wiseman Cele (4), Sabelo Mazibuko (4), Ingram Zulu (2) and Duane Gordon (1) while Royce Billings (1), Rowan Lubbe (1), Curtis Dos Santos (2), Enva Wiltwer (2) and an own goal by Brandon Sanssoucie scored for the Maritzburg Hotspurs.
Cape Town Titans (9) beat OBC Chicken (2)
Both teams started off slow by assessing their opponents but the home team was surprised in the fourth minute when Allan Adams netted and silenced the home crowd. This didn’t worry the home team as they continued with their game plan and equalized in the eighth minute.
The match was evenly posed as both teams scored in the fourteenth minute to keep the tie even but the home team took a narrow edge into the break when they scored in the seventeenth minute.
The second half was different to the first as the home team dominated play and possession throughout the half and scored six more goals at regular intervals.
Goals for Cape Town Titans scored by Ashley Blou (3), Quien Paulse (2), Angelo Johannes (1), Giovanni Jackson (1), Miquel Rousseau and Gresham Stephens (1) while Allan Adams and Raul De Freitas scored for the visitors.

Tshwane City (0) lost to Ethekwini City (9)
Another dismal performance by Tshwane City which allowed this to be a one sided game whereby Ethekwini City were in control of the game from start to end. Four goals were scored in the first half, followed by a further five in the second half.
Goals for Ethekwini City were scored by Sabelo Mazibuko (1), Donavan Gordon (3), Jon-Marc Ryan (2), Leichen Stork (1) and Duane Gordon (2).
Maritzburg Hotspurs (10) beat OBC Chicken (1)
The home team was too good for their opposition and scored at regular intervals to ensure that they were in control and kept their opposition at bay. It was one of those days that saw their opposition working hard to gain possession of the ball. At half time the home team was leading by four goals to nil.
The second half was no different to the first as a further six goals were scored by the home team at regular intervals whilst the visitors scored after being awarded a penalty in the 33rdminute. Even though the score was in favour of the home team, the visitors showed determination and courage and soldiered on until the final whistle was sounded.
Goals for Maritzburg Hotspurs were scored by Curtis Dos Santos (3), Royce Billings (3), Ashwin Ramkissoon (2), Erwin Ndlovu (1) and Enva Wiltwer (1) while Allan Adams scored for the visitors.
Young Natalians (6) beat Cape Town Titans (2)
Although the game was played in Cape Town, this was Young Natalians home match. Another encounter which saw the home team dominate play and possession especially in the first half and to an extent in the second half. Goals at regular intervals gave the home team a healthy lead at half time with the score 6 – 1.
The second half was a bit competitive as the visitors changed their game plan to try and reduce the lead and get themselves back into the match but the home team was equally prepared and defended well. The same could be said for the visitors especially their goal keeper Abdullah Fakier who made many saves to deny the home team from adding to their tally.
