19 August 2019 – Sunflower FC had to dig deep for their victory over second placed Lindelani FC who lost out on the opportunity to narrow the gap between themselves and the log leaders.
The title contenders faced off this weekend in a highly anticipated top of the table clash which went 2-0 in favour of the inform Sunflower FC which was their 17th win of the season in as many matches.
The log leaders have now extended their lead to 13 points with Lindelani having a game in hand.
Another interesting match that took place over the weekend was DUT Midlands taking on Tottenham Ladies. Midlands suffered a shock 2-0 defeat which dented their title hopes. The result worked in favour of Sunflower who maintain look set for early celebrations should they maintain form.
Umlazi Arsenal, who are desperately trying to get out of the relegation battle put up a strong performance against fourth placed White City in an evenly balanced 1-1 stalemate.
Mubs Ladies on the other hand remain in danger following their disappointing 4-1 defeat at home against Newcastle Ladies who registered their eighth win of the season.
