14 August 2019 – With over 2000 entries, the official winner of the SAFA AFCON Predictor Competition was officially announced on Wednesday, 14 August by the South African Football Association (SAFA).

The month-long competition, which was the brainchild of the Association’s technology partner, Inqaku and Big5Games was well received by South Africans who rallied behind Bafana Bafana all the way to the competition’s quarter finals where they were narrowly edged 2-1 by Nigeria.

Even with Bafana Bafana bowing out of the competition, fans continued showing their love for the game with their score predictions all they way to the final match between Senegal and Algeria.

An exclusive signed Bafana Bafana jersey was on offer which was eventually won by Johannesburg based, Daniel Viera.

The 24-year-old expressed his gratitude to SAFA for his prize, saying that this would be one of his collector’s items.

“I would like to say thank you very much to SAFA for this wonderful prize. Even though Bafana Bafana did not win the competition, I think they put up some really gutsy performances that saw them overcome hosts, Egypt. This is definitely a wonderful gift for any football loving person” said Viera who is also an aspiring coach.

Fans can look forward to more exciting competitions in the near future.
