8 August 2019 – TK Stars Ladies dropped points for the first time in the Mpumalanga Sasol League Stream B season on Sunday, 04 August as Super Strikers Ladies held the visiting league leaders to a 2-2 draw and halted their winning streak.
Despite holding the lead with goals from either half from Nomthandazo Shakoane, TK Stars were pegged back by an 84th-minute equalizer to see their perfect 3-match start to campaign ended.
“We never thought for a moment that we would keep on winning until the end of the season,” said TK Stars head coach Jobe Sibando when his team failed to maintain a 3-point lead from second-placed Flamingo.
TK Stars tops the league standings with 10 points, 1 point ahead of Flamingo, Butterfly Ladies and Nkomazi Ladies who have both collected maximum points over the weekend with wins against Lekazi Ladies, Teka-Teka Ladies, and TUT Ladies respectively.
“We knew this was one of the toughest grounds to visit in the league,” Sibando said. “We needed to circulate the ball more quickly, but they defended us very closely and worked well as a group. A draw is never good.”
Up next for TK Stars is a home tie at the Thembeka Sports Ground against second-placed and league top goal scorers Flamingo FC who have already scored an impressive 28 goals in 4 league games.
