7 August 2019 – Royal Queens’s 2-0 defeat at ALS PUK Tawana on Saturday, 3 August, enabled De’ Scorpion to go 13-points clear at the summit of the North West Sasol League. But the experienced head coach believes it is too early to gauge Scorpion’s chances of winning the title.

De’ Scorpion’s coach has refused to look too far ahead in the North West Sasol League title race despite his side increasing the gap at the top after comfortably beating Keleku 4-1.

Royal Queens have only suffered their second defeat of the campaign on Saturday in a 2-0 defeat to third-placed Tawana.

“Ask me that question again in October,” Tlhalepe responded to SAFA.net when asked if he feels his team had already secured the title after goals from Mpho Bloem, Kgomotso Seiphetlho and a double from Nomathema Dasoi handed Keleku their seventh defeat of the season.

“To continue with this kind of form is very difficult in this league. Last season we were at the top of the table with 24 wins in 26 games, but Golden Ladies came and we finished second. We have to continue winning, although we may lose at some point, we still have Tawana and Rustenburg Ladies to play against and they are one of the most difficult teams to beat.”

Next up for Scorpions is successive fixtures away to Florentina and Clive United FC before a home tie against relegation-threatened We Can Ladies.
