6 August 2019 – Banyana Banyana midfielder Mamello Makhabana celebrated her 100th appearance for the Senior Women’s National Team on Monday (5 August) in the clash against Madagascar in the 2019 COSAFA Women’s Championship in Port Elizabeth, but nothing would please her more than to see South Africa lift the trophy for the third time in a row.
Banyana Banyana take on Zimbabwe in the semi-final of the competition on Thursday, 8 August at Wolfson Stadium.
Kickoff is at 15h30.
Despite the team winning all their three matches in the group stages – they beat Comoros 17-0, defeated Malawi 3-1 and brushed aside Madagascar 3-0 – Makhabane says there is a lot of improvement needed if they are to defend the trophy they in 2017 and 2018 in Zimbabwe and Port Elizabeth respectively.
