4 August 2019 – Lesotho beat South Africa CHAN team 3-0 in the return leg to go through to the next round 6-2 on aggregate.
The second leg was played at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday, 4 August 2019.
Lesotho beat the South African CHAN team 3-2 last Sunday in the first leg and David Notoane’s chances of wiping the deficit was dashed four minutes after the break when Jane Ntso’s 45 metre drive beat Andile Mbanjwa in goals for the home team.
The same striker made it 2-0 midway through the second half when he took advantage of the hesitant home team defence to make it 5-2 on aggregate.
Hlompho Kalake made it 3-0 at the stroke of full-time to seal a 6-2 aggregate win.
Once again, Notoane was forced to field a relatively young and inexperienced side as most regular players have reported back to their clubs.
Notoane was hoping to turn around the 3-2 defeat in the first leg but somehow his team never got going in Sunday’s return leg.
Despite having more possession in the entire first 45 minutes, they lacked the killer punch and hardly created good scoring chances.
They were made to pay for it when after the break, Lesotho put the game beyond them, Ntso hitting a ferocious long range shot, although Mbanjwa could have done better.
The South African defence were once again caught napping when Ntso finished off a move which the hosts could have better to defend.
The visitors completed their victory in the dying minutes when Kalake’s back heel beat Kubheka hands down.
