3 August 2019 – A Shekeerah Jacobs goal in the 10th minute gave the South AfricanU20 Women’s National Team (Basetsana), their second 3 points of the 2019 inaugural COSAFA U20 Championships when they beat Namibia 1 -0 to automatically qualify for the semi finals.

Namibia tried their utmost best to contain South Africa throughout the match with wonderful displays from their goalkeeper, who made sure that the host could not increase the lead.

Player of the match Jessica Wade controlled the midfield throughout the match, winning all second balls while managing to always get the ball to the striking pair Jacobs and Maseko.

“We are happy with the progress the players are making throughout the tournament, and want to thank Namibia for this tough match.

They really did an excellent job trying to close us down and not giving us room to play”; said Tournament Head Coach Simphiwe Dludlu.

We have now qualified for the semi finals however; our focus will no switch to our last group A match against Mozambique.

We need to ensure that we do not become comfortable against Mozambique because we know they are a speedy, qualify side. We will have to ensure that we give 200 percent against them and hopefully get the much desired 3 points
