2 August 2019 – Banyana Banyana came from behind to defeat Malawi in the second Group B match of the 2019 COSAFA Championship at Wolfson Stadium on Friday, 2 August.

South Africa’s head coach Desiree Ellis has praised her players for the character they showed in fighting from a goal down to emerge 3-1 winners with goals from Lebohang Ramalepe, second half substitute Noxolo Cesane – who was playing in only her second match for Banyana Banyana – and Amanda Mthandi, her fourth in two games (she scored a hat trick against Comoros).

Banyana Banyana now have six points in two games – keeping alive their hopes of defending their COSAFA Cup title.
