9 July 2019 – The performance of our team against Egypt last Saturday, has certainly changed the narrative around the quality of this generation of players.
It has been a long wait since 2002 to reach the quarter-finals of Africa’s premier tournament, but this match is different as South Africa and Nigeria have always generated a lot of debate especially since our last series of meetings where Bafana Bafana won 2-0 in Nigeria and played to a 1-1 draw at FNB Stadium in the return match.
The football world has taken note of how Jose Mourinho was complimentary of the performance of the team against Egypt last Saturday. The presence of Bafana Bafana stalwarts Andre Arendse and Mark Fish within the technical set up provide further motivation for this team.
I want to wish the team, the coach and his entire technical and support staff all the best in this vital clash.
