9 July 2019 – With the 2019 Limpopo Sasol League coming to an end, Moria Sweepers are edging closer to winning their first Limpopo Sasol League Stream A title which would put them in line for qualification to the Sasol National Championships should they overcome the second stream winners.

A 3-2 victory over Skimzozo FC away at Marapong Stadium on Saturday allowed Sweepers to climb over one of their obstacles on their way to their first league title. Beat Re Tla Dira Ladies and Mandebele Happy Fighters at home and University of Limpopo away – and Sweepers will be champions and face whoever who will be crowned champions in Stream B.

However, Sweepers midfielder Lesego Phoshoko is refusing to get carried away.

“We are almost there but we are not there yet,” Phoshoko said. “We have to keep collecting points to become champions because as it stands, First Touch Academy is still the Limpopo Sasol League champions.”

Sweepers are seven points ahead of second-placed Mandebele Happy Fighters in a title race which is almost decided. Happy Fighters suffered a major setback on their title chase two weeks ago when they fell to a 2-1 defeat away to FC 50 Stars Ladies, but responded impressively with a 2-0 victory over The University of Limpopo.

Re Tla Dira is eight on the league table, occupying the last spot and without a point after eight games. They are seven points behind seventh-placed Skimzozo and nine points behind sixth-placed Kanatla Ladies and would be confirmed as relegated if they lose their next four games.
