4 July 2019 – Legendary goalkeeper, Innocent Mayoyo has given the thumbs up to the South African Football Association’s innovative MYSAFA Player Registration system. Since establishing his club, Ace Auto Ayoba back in 2008, Mayoyo has produced a number of talented footballers who have went on to join amateur clubs. Thousands of clubs in South Africa have never been compensated for the hard work put into player development and all this is set to change thanks to MYSAFA..
“Having our players registered onto MYSAFA will help greatly in ensuring that our talent is registered onto one centralized web based and reliable system. With the number of talented players we produce yearly, it’s going to be important to trace where our players on are and measure the work that we have done from our side” said Mayoyo who recently registered his club and players onto the MYSAFA Player Pro.
FIFA now requires member associations to provide electronic player registration systems and integrate them with the FIFA Transfer Matching System and solidarity payment clearing house. MYSAFA is the only FIFA-integrated system in South Africa and to date has registered more amateur players than any other system of its kind in Africa.
“Keeping track of such records is hard if you don’t have a reliable system and I believe through MYSAFA, we finally have a working system that will help clubs being compensated for their hard work of producing talent” said Mayoyo.
The former Orlando Pirates shot stopper has been greatly involved in youth football since hanging up his gloves.
Following a successful period as youth coach at the Ajax Cape Town youth academy where he groomed talent such as Thulani Serero and Sameehg Doutie, the Pirates legend is now a key figure for youth football development in Springs, east of Johannesburg.
Apart from coaching Ace Auto Ayoba who ply their trade in the Ekurhuleni Regional League, Mayoyo also doubles up as the head of youth development in Springs and also offers coaching advise tips to young aspiring coaches in and around Ekurhuleni.
