25 June 2019 – The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup continues in France with Italy taking on China while the Netherlands will be up against Japan in the final matches of the last 16 stage.
Both matches will take place today (Wednesday, 25 June) at 16h00 and 19h00 in Montpellier and Rennes respectively.
Italy finished top of Group C with China (from Group B) proceeding to the next round as one of the best third-placed teams.
The Europeans are ranked 15thin the world, while the Asians are 16th.
The Netherlands, who are the EUFA Champions, won Group E with three wins, while Japan, the AFC champions, came second in Group D.
Netherlands is in position 8 on the FIFA Women’s World rankings, with Japan one notch above in seventh place.
The winners of the two matches will face each other in the quarterfinals on Saturday, 29 June.
