16 June 2019 – Banyana Banyana head coach Desiree Ellis and her charges are well aware that they are still in with a chance of making the last 16 of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, but will take a gigantic effort to realise their dream.
South Africa is bottom of Group B in the standings after two matches having suffered back to back defeats – and their passage into the next round is also dependent other results.
Banyana Banyana take on the second ranked Germany in the fixture of the group stages on Monday, 17 June at Stade de la Mosson in Montpellier.
The Germany top the table and have already secured their last 16 spot following back to back wins.
Ellis is further concerned about niggling injuries to some of her key players – with captain Janine van Wyk top of the list, where she is joined by Thembi Kgatlana, Refiloe Jane, Lebo Ramalepe, Linda Motlhalo and Jermaine Seoposenwe.
