13 June 2019 – Banyana Banyana head coach Desiree Ellis says after losing the opening match of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup against Spain, her charges know what they have to do to stand any chance of proceeding to the next round of the tournament.
The South Africans went down 3-1 after taking a 1-0 lead at the break.
Banyana Banyana now take on China in the second match of the competition – both are in the same boat as the Chinese were defeated 1-0 by Germany in the other Group B match.
This is not the first meeting between the Asians and the South Africans – they last met in 2016 in the Rio Olympic Games, with Banyana Banyana going down 2-0.
Ellis says a lot changed since then.
South Africa and China play tonight at Parc des Princes in Paris.
Kickoff is at 21h00.
