4 June 2019 – Bafana Bafana preparations went a gear up on Day Two of the training camp as players continue to fight for their places for AFCON 2019 in Egypt.

Bafana Bafana are scheduled to leave for Dubai on Monday to continue with their training before heading for Egypt where they will wrap up their preparations ahead of their opening match against Cote d’Ivoire on June 24.

While in the Middle East, Bafana Bafana will try to secure two friendly matches against a West African side and possibly a North African opponent.

On Tuesday, all departments went through rigorous sessions in the morning and in the afternoon at Steyn City School with goalkeeper coach Andre Arendse taking Darren Keet, Bruce Bvuma and Ronwen Williams through some punishing drills.

Later, all the players but mostly attacking midfielders and strikers had to go on a shooting exercise, a clear indication this Bafana Bafana side will be very offensive in Egypt.

Meanwhile, striker Percy Tau said he and the entire team were relishing going to Egypt and make a statement in this year’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The inform striker said despite a long season, in today’s professional football environment, there was nothing like a break.

“The most important thing is to look after yourself. My body has become adjusted to this rigorous schedule of professional football.

“It has been a good year for me in Belgium, what I have done (collecting personal accolades) and what the team has done; lots of positives,” he said.

He said he needed to stay focussed in his journey and was happy that he took football as a profession adding he was enjoying every moment of it.

“It took a while for me to adjust in the new environment (in Belgium), finding new friends etc. I was at Mamelodi Sundowns for seven years and the team had become my home and going to Belgium meant finding new friends but that is what it is like in the football world,” he added.

Bafana Bafana will have two more sessions on Wednesday and will go for medicals the whole of Thursday before resuming training on Friday.
