3 June 2019 – The South African U23 team will turn their focus on Uganda next in their COSAFA Cup assignment as both nations compete in the Plate Semifinals at Princess Magogo Stadium on Tuesday, 04 June.

South Africa remain on course in their plans to offer game time to as many players as possible from the group that travalled for the camp in Durban.

Coach David Notoane and Kwanele Kopo took the boys through their paces on Tuesday morning at George Campbell grounds.

Notoane paid homage to SAFA for entrusting him and his technical team with the vision to ready the young team for possible reckoning for AFCON in the senior national team led by Coach Stuart Baxter.

Notoane also emphasized the need for the youngsters to cultivate their mental capacity going into the long haul: “We want to develop not only their game as players but we want to develop the mental character in them as well. That is definitely what we want to see coming into play against Uganda tomorrow,” said Notoane.
Promising forward Luther Singh (21) echoed the coach’s sentiments.

The Soweto born man and Portugal based player was on target on Sunday afternoon against the Zebras when he pounced for South Africa to score the opening goal in the 20th minute.

Of improving in the way they managed yesterday’s encounter he said: Anything can happen in football. The ball is round. You can have a brilliant first half and the opposition a brilliant second half.”

“On the day it’s just about whoever takes their chances and who is more hungrier. Things worked out for them (Botswana) yesterday but tomorrow we have to give it our all, ” said Singh.

Match 1: Uganda VS South Africa, Princes Magogo Stadium. Kickoff 17:00.
Match 2: Comoros VS Malawi, Princess Magogo Stadium, 19:30.
All Plate Semi Final matches will be played on 04 June 2018.
The final will be played on Friday, 07 June at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
