25 May 2019 – SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan said he is shocked and depressed following the death of TS Galaxy midfielder Thembinkosi Mamba who passed away following a car accident.
The death of the star comes barely a week after the National First Division team stunned powerhouse Kaizer Chiefs to win the Nedbank Cup.
“The football fraternity has been plunged into mourning following the passing on of Mamba.
“We have been losing a lot of our players to road accidents and something needs to be done to stop this carnage,” said Dr Jordaan.
The SAFA President said the football fraternity should urgently engage players to address, among others, proper behavioural attitudes on the road.
TS Galaxy confirmed on twitter that Mbamba had died in a road accident.
“We are saddened by news of the passing of @TSGALAXYFC player, Thembinkosi Mbamba.
