24 May 2019 — South Africa’s National Under-20 (Amajita) coach Thabo Senong says his side will approach their first 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup Group F against Argentina with the same principles which played a massive part in getting them to qualify for this major event.

And that is to give ordinate respect to their Saturday’s opponents, while making sure that his charges play according to the given instructions for this particular match.

Senong explained that this key principle has played a massive part in his side qualifying for back-to-back (2017/2019) FIFA U-20 World Cup tournaments, adding that his charges are also rearing to go for their first Group F fixture.

Amajita’s group match against Argentina will take place at Tychy Stadium. Kick-off is at 20h30.

“We are really looking forward to our World Cup group fixtures,” Senong said. “We had good presentations which helped us to get our boys to a physical and mental we wanted them to be in for this event.

“Our target is to push for a top two finish which would guarantee us a place in the knockout rounds. Good preparations and planning for our group matches, will help us achieve this objective.”

Senong further explained that Amajita’s chances of progression into the knockout rounds were possible.

“Any team that is in this group has a possible chance of progressing into the knockout rounds,” Senong said. “It will all boil down to who wants it more.”
