23 May 2019 — South Africa’s National Under-20 (Amajita) midfielder Kobamelo Kodisang says he feels honoured to have been selected to feature in what will be his third FIFA junior World Cup tournament appearance, adding that Amajita will do everything in their power to make the country proud. The national juniors take on Argentina in their first 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup Group F match on 25 May at Tychy Stadium, and Kodisang stated that the team is fired up to do well in that matchup. Amajita’s first group fixture against Argentina will kick-off at 20h30.
“Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would feature in World Cup tournament as a youngster,” Kodisang said. “Football was something that I played for the mere fun of it and I only began taking it seriously when I was roped into the Platinum Stars academy structures.
“It truly is an honor to have made the team that will be competing in this year’s World Cup tournament. This counts as my third having played in the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup and 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup tournaments respectively.
Asked what he thought of Amajita’s chances in their group fixtures, Kodisang said: “I believe that this team has what it takes to put out a good fight in our group matches. We just have to take it one game at a time and believe that we can do great job. This is a very ambitious Amajita side. And we will do everything in our power to make the country proud in this tournament.”
