10 May 2019 – Banyana Banyana midfielder Nomvula Kgoale says like any other player, she has hopes of representing her country at the World Cup.
But the USA-based player is no stranger to the competition as she was part of the U-17 Women’s National Team that took part in the 2010 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago alongside, among others, Jermaine Seoposenwe, Kaylin Swart, Robyn Moodaly, Rachel Sebati (who was the captain) and Jabulile Mazibuko.
Kgoale went on to play for the U-20 Women’s National Team before graduating to Banyana Banyana, making her debut in 2011 in the All Africa Games under former coach Joseph Mkhonza – and she has never been called up since.
She is now studying in the USA at Louisiana Tech University and will be graduating in two weeks time after spending five years. The midfielder was the last player to join the Banyana Banyana in camp in Santa Clara, California where they are preparing to face World Champions USA in an international friendly match scheduled for Sunday, 12 May at Levi Stadium.
