9 May 2019 – With only two rounds of fixtures played in the 2019 Eastern Cape Sasol League inland stream, there’s already no team which can claim a perfect record and as a result, the campaign is already showing great signs of a very exciting and competitive season ahead.

Executive LadiesAyakha Stars and Red Roses Ladies stalemates on Saturday, 4 May, meant no team in the Inland Stream could claim a perfect record after two rounds.

Red Roses and Executive Ladies kicked-off their 2019 season a week ago with a 2-1 home win over Coastal United Ladies and Cumakala FC respectively, whilst Ayakha Stars were 3-0 winners away to Eastern Rangers FC. Neither of them was able to build on their positive start.

Ayakha Stars and Executive Ladies were paired together to fight for the points at the Cicira TVET College Stadium and the pair were inseparable after 90 minutes of football with the game ending in a one-all-draw.

Red Roses were held to a 2-2 draw away from home by Cumakala who collected their first points of the campaign in the process.

Amanqilo Birds who began their season with a 2-2 draw against Eluhewini Ladies were the only team to collect the maximum points on Saturday following a 2-0 victory over Rangers to become joint league leaders with Ayakha, Red Roses and Executive Ladies on four points.

In the Coastal Stream, City Lads and Birmingham City managed to maintain their perfect starts with convincing victories over Dower United FC and Golden Stars.

Birmingham followed up their opening day 2-1 win over Sophakama FC with a 6-3 victory over Golden Stars whilst City Lads thrashed Dower United 5-1 away from home.

Highbury FC continued with their dismal start to the season, they followed up their opening day 7-0 defeat to City Lads with a 7-4 defeat at home against the University of Fort Hare FC.
