27 April 2019 – The 27th of April 2019 marks 25 years of democracy in South Africa.

It is a day to remember how we got here and to remember the founding fathers of our cherished democracy and democratic non-racial sporting organisations including our all-inclusive South African Football Association (SAFA).

It is a day we celebrate the contributions and sacrifices of those who contributed to the new South Africa’s inclusive freedom.

We are deeply grateful to them both for their generous and inspiring participation in the creation of the new South Africa.

As SAFA we not only think about the present, but also about our country’s past and the injustices of Apartheid rule.

Today as our Amajita (South African U20 Men’s National Team) and Banyana Banyana (South African Senior Women’s National Team) prepare to take the world as they both feature in their respective FIFA World Cups and Bafana Bafana (South African Senior Men’s National Team) prepare to participate in the AFCON tournament, we must be thankful to those who provided us with such an opportunity.

Enjoy the Freedom Day!
