26 April 2019 – The race to be crowned champions of the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League is at an all-time high with JDR Stars and Dondol Stars both tied on 62 points and being the only two that can lift the title.
There is absolutely no room for error in the final two matches of the season for both clubs who have displayed amazing form. Being crowned Gauteng champions automatically qualifies the winner to the ABC Motsepe League Play Offs where two places in the National First Division are up for grabs.
Log leaders on goal difference, JDR face Pretoria Callies who are fresh off a 1-0 defeat to FC Ma-Lions who are fighting relegation with Alexandra Black Aces and Leruma United.
The log leaders face a wounded Callies who will be out to redeem themselves and finish in a respectable position on the table.
Dondol Stars on the other hand have an even trickier task against the relegation threatened Ma-Lion who are high in confidence following their victory. This will certainly be a difficult match for the title contenders who are also seven goals behind on goal difference should the title be decided on goals.
Should both sides win their encounters this weekend, the final match of the season, set for 4 May will be an explosive encounter as both JDR and Dondol will be up against each other in what promises to be a spectacular ending to what has been an unpredictable Gauteng ABC Motsepe League season.
