23 April 2019 – After what has been one of the most exciting seasons of the Eastern Cape leg of the ABC Motsepe League, the destination of the title is set to be decided this weekend when the top two sides contending for the title will be in action.
Tornado FC have the psychological advantage with their point lead at the top with 66 points. Just behind them is Mthatha Bucks who are a point behind while PE Stars are still within a touching distance of the title but would need both Tornado and Bucks to slip up for them to do the unthinkable.
Even with the title now out of their reach following an impressive run this season, Stars were ruthless in front of goal this weekend with a 8-1 drubbing of Birmingham City FC.
Mthatha Bucks on the other hand weren’t as lucky to get as many goals but will be happy with the maximum points from their 2-0 victory over Future Tigers. A tough encounter for the log leaders against Bizana Pondo Chiefs resulted in a 1-0 favour to Tornado which ultimately ruled Chiefs completely out of the title race.
To decide the title, Tornado have to get maximum points against eighth placed SUBS and need not worry about what happens in the other fixtures.
At the same time, Bucks face a wounded Birmingham City away from home while PE Stars will have their last assignment against the unpredictable Amavarara.
