10 April 2019 – The 2019 Sasol Women’s League season is officially underway and is off to a thrilling start with two rounds of matches already taking place. The first game of the Gauteng leg of the season kicked off on Friday, 29 March with a single fixture between Nicko Taurus FC and NWU Vaal FC going 3-0 in favour of Taurus.
Taurus marched to another impressive victory when they comfortably cruised past Luso Africa 4-1 to collect maximum points in both their opening matches.
Taurus were however brought down to earth by JVW who thumped them 6-0 in their opening match of the season.
The two victories see Tuarus tied on points with Hallelujah Zebra Force who edged Rosina Sedibane Sports School 2-1 in their opening match before their 2-0 victory over Palace Super Falcons to go top of the table with goal difference.
Soweto Fabulous, who are looking to improve this season opened their campaign with a tough encounter against Croesus which ended in an evenly balanced 1-1 stalemate. The Sowetans did however redeem themselves with a 3-0 win over VUT FC away from home while Croesus dismantled Pull Together 2-0 over the weekend.
This was the second loss for Pull Together who are new to the Sasol League. Their opening match saw them go down 4-0 at home to Springs Home Sweepers who drew their next match against NWU Vaal by 1-1.
The most recent match was Sunday’s encounter between hosts, Blue Birds against TUKS where the hosts were subjected to a 2-0 defeat against the Tshwane outfit.
