10 April 2019 – Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter said he is waiting for the AFCON draw on Friday evening (12 April 2019) before finalising his plans and preparations ahead of the tournament in Egypt which runs from 21 June – 19 July 2019.

For the first time, Africa’s premier football tournament will have a total of 24 teams and will be played on 8 venues and 5 host cities.

The draw on Friday will commence at 18h00 GMT (20h00 South African time). Baxter, the Senior Men’s National team coach said once the draw is conducted, he will sit down with his technical team to plan the way ahead.

Briefing the SAFA NEC meeting last Saturday, (6 April 2019) in Durban, the Bafana Bafana coach said selecting opponents to prepare for the tournament will be determined by the outcome of Friday’s draw.

South Africa beat Libya 2-1 in Tunisia to book a place at the finals in Egypt together with Nigeria from the group.
