1 April 2019 – Just three games stand in the way of JDR Stars and Dondol Stars from knowing which one of the two will be crowned Gauteng ABC Motsepe League champions. JDR toppled Baberwa from the top of the table last month after the latter had led for most parts of the season.
JDR now lead the standings with 59 points alongside Dondol Stars who trail them by 10 on goal difference.
Mathematically, Baberwa are still in the race but their disappointing 1-1 draw against Swallows FC this past weekend has practically ruled them out of the title chase.
JDR were ruthless at home when they recorded a record breaking 11-1 thrashing of Vaal Professionals to extend their goal difference gap at the top with Dondol easily brushing aside Alexandra United 3-1.
Looking at the fixtures, the title will most likely be decided on the very last day of the season when the two sides take each other on. JDR’s next two fixtures will be an away tie against Leruma United followed by a home fixture against Pretoria Callies.
Dondol on the other hand are away to XI Experience which will be followed by a tricky encounter against FC Ma-Lions who will be giving it their all in an attempt to escape relegation.
The final match of the season for both sides will be against each other with JDR being the hosts in what promises to be a thrilling encounter to close off what has been a very competitive season in Gauteng.
