26 March 2019– The South Africa U-23 Men’s National Team easily negotiated past Angola in the second leg of the CAF Olympic qualifier, with the home side winning 3-0 for a 6-1 aggregate score.

The clash took place at the Bidvest Wits Stadium on Tuesday night (26 March 2019).

This match was effectively killed off as a contest in the first leg away in Angola last Friday (22 March) in which the visitors pumped in three goals.

The second leg kicked off at a very fast pace with South Africa taking the lead in the 10th minute through Jamie Webber.

The Supersport United midfielder took on a couple of Angolan players, well outside the area before unleashing a thunderbolt that gave the visitors’ keeper no chance.

The goal made the Angolans drop their heads.

Thereafter, the hosts completely dominated the proceedings and could have killed the game inside the opening 45 minutes.

Luther Singh, who was a thorn in the flesh to the Angolan defence, tore through the visitors at will.

Twice he came close to doubling the tally but was denied by the Angolan keeper.

The tempo of the game became somewhat tepid as the home side dictated the pace.

Angola hardly fashioned any attacks apart from sporadic raids, which lacked any bite.

South Africa got the second on the 80th minute through Tebogo Mokoena who finished off a Kamohelo Mahlatsi cross.

It was only after the second goal that Angola twice had shots on target as they searched for the elusive consolation goal.

But again, they were caught on a counter attack as Singh made it 3-0 and it was all over for the dejected visitors.

South Africa won 6-1 on aggregate

This victory capped a glorious football week for the country following Bafana Bafana’s majestic win over Libya in Tunisia to qualify for the 2019 AFCON
