6 March 2019 – So often lauded for its defensive strength, Tornado issued another reminder of its attacking prowess by scoring four or more goals in an Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League for the sixth time this season.

On the receiving end this time was Birmingham City, which has already been biffed 6-3 by Sibanye – The team in third place and striving to reel into league leaders Tornado.

Goals from Thokozane Ngubane, Jonasi Siphelele, Ntombayithethi Vuyisile and Kenny Nkatho helped extend Tornado’s winning streak to three games.

Tornado had already scored four goals against Future TigersMatta Milan and Highbury FC. They have managed to score five goals against Yaka United and Future Tigers in the first round.

It’s in the big games, against Tornado’s title rivals, that Tshepo Motsoaneng seems to employ a conservative approach and one of them is up next; at home against Sibanye on Saturday, 16 March.

Tornado has only won once in their seven games against teams which are currently in the top six, drawing three and losing three.

Tornado is currently leading the race, but the Eastern Cape ABC League title race is one of the closest race in the country, with the teams in the top five only separated by six points.

Peace Makers might be out of the title race. Two draws and a defeat in their last five games dropped them to sixth-place and eight points behind league leaders with only eight games to play.

In other matches, Yaka stunned title-contending Sibanye with a 1-0 victory at home and Matta Millan extended Bush Bucks losing streak to five games with a 4-1 thumping.
