6 March 2019 – A number of leading Sports journalists will take part in the SAFA D License coaching course to take place this month in Randburg.

Coordinated by SAFA Johannesburg Technical Director, Jimmy Bakos, the course will run on 16-17, 23-24 and on 30 March when the final practice will take place. The course will take place at Steyn City School.

Bakos said depending on the number of those interested in attending the course, they will run the courses concurrently.

“We are expecting a huge turn out because lots of people are interested in taking up coaching as a profession and this is the beginners course,” he said.

“What makes the upcoming course more exciting is that we have leading media personnel who have registered to attend and to me this is very positive and way to go.”

Bakos said it was important for members of the media to take up such courses so that they understand the technical dynamics of the coaching world.

“We will continue asking members of the media to take up such courses because it helps them understand better the industry they work in,” he said.

The courses will be conducted by former Bafana Bafana player and Banyana Banyana coach Augustine Makalakalane and Haroon Lachporia.

This is the 16th D License coaching course that will be undertaken under SAFA Johannesburg since last year and has seen 250 coaches earning their coaching badges.
