5 March 2019 – The Dolphins beat Magesi 1-0 in Humphrey Sithole’s first Limpopo ABC Motsepe League match as Dihlaphi’s head coach.

An 86th-minute goal from Mpho Matlowa gave The Dolphins a scrappy win in a foul-strewn match between the teams who won a combined five league titles in the last five seasons.

The left-back rose at the near post to beat Magesi’s number one Motsoshi Baloyi to a well-delivered corner kick and head home the winner, deciding the game that was set to end as a draw while extending the Dolphins winning run to four games and moved them up to second place.

There will definitely be stiffer tests for Dolphins in the weeks ahead but Sithole was content with the effort his players exhibited in what was a tough game.

“Whenever you win you have to be happy,” Sithole told SAFA.net after the match. “What I liked most was the attitude shown by the team. It is not easy to get all the three points against experienced campaigners like Magesi.”

The former head coach of the Mpumalanga ABC League side FC Benfica replaced Justice Mtileni who stepped down three weeks ago following a three games winless run which commenced with an embarrassing 2-1 defeat to relegation-threatened Ollesdas.

Team Manager Tebogo Sikiti and General Manager Eric Lehong assumed the roles of caretaker coaches until Sithole was installed as a full-time coach, the pair had a successful spell with a perfect record in their three games in charge.

Up next for the Dolphins is a trip to Nzhelele to face fellow title contenders Mikhado on Friday, 8 March. Mikhado are fourth on the table and only four points behind The Dolphins.
