28 February 2019 – In-form Madritas striker Martin Nsimbi says he is not targeting finishing top of the Limpopo ABC Motsepe League goal scoring charts as the only objective he is concerned about is taking the club to the National First Division.

Nsimbi scored his side’s second goal of the game in a 5-1 win against Polokwane Academy on Friday, 22 February, taking his league tally to 17, four ahead of Mikhado‘s Vutomi Ngomana, who has 13 and second on the goal scoring charts.

“I’m aware that I’m also in the race for the top goal scorer,” he tells SAFA.net. “But I’m not really thinking about that, my aim is to help the team achieve all its objectives, one of them being earning a promotion to the NFD”

“As long as I score and the team wins its okay. It is not about my personal achievement, but about the team doing well” he adds.

Friday’s game against Polokwane Academy was Nsimbi’s first game since limping off in the 25th minute in a 2-1 win against Magesi with a knee injury on Saturday, 9 February. He then sat out his side’s 1-1 draw away to Mikhado a week later.

“I have a feeling before every game that I will score today and I was excited to get on the scoresheet on my return from injury. At half-time, the coach [Joel Mongalo] told me to go for more in the second half, but unfortunately, I didn’t get any more. However, it was a good performance,” the player says.

Madridtas will travel just over 110km to Ga-Mafefe village to battle for the invaluable three points against sixth-placed Berachah Valley on Saturday, 2 March at Mafefe Sports Complex.

Berachah managed to snatch a point against current league leaders Madridtas away from home in the first round. On Saturday, they will be hoping that the home ground advantage will be enough to help them win and reduce the gap between them and their visitors to just three points.
