25 February 2019 – Captain of the Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana, Janine van Wyk, will be playing in her record 7th Cyprus Women’s Cup. She first featured in the tournament under then head coach Augustine Makalakalane – and in their first match were walloped 6-0 by England in 2008.
But a lot a has changed since then and they are now able to compete with other top footballing nations – South Africa is making their 7th appearance in the tournament..

Van Wyk is highest capped woman player on the continent with 161 caps.
