18 February 2019 – The South African Masters & Legends Football Association (SAMLFA) NEC met on Saturday, 16 February 2019 at SAFA House to prepare for the upcoming national elections pencilled for 22/23 June 2019.
SAMLFA President, Buddha Mathathe said the meeting on Saturday was also to check the compliance status of the body in all of the country’s 9 Provinces.
“We unanimously resolved to have our Elective Congress on 22/23 June at SAFA House in which on the first day we will go through the Constitutional Amendments to be followed by the elections the following day.
“The meeting resolved that all Provinces must, in the meantime, go through their own elections and this exercise must be completed by the end of April. We want delegates who attend the Elective Congress to be in good standing going to the national elections,” said Mathathe.
The SAMLFA President said he was impressed by the spirit of the meeting which reflected unity, determination and will to be part of an organisation that will work hand in hand with the mother body (SAFA) in fostering football development.
“We also want our body to work with the Association in mitigating the social-economic challenges facing our ex-footballers. We are on track in bringing all legends together to speak with one voice.
“This is the only structure which is affiliated to SAFA and anyone who will speak outside this body would not be speaking on behalf of anyone. Let us come together and build our football,” added Mathathe.
