12 February 2019 – The Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League is set for a photo finish with all top six clubs standing a good chance of being crowned champions and subsequently booking their place in the end of season ABC Motsepe National Play Offs.
Mthatha Bucks lead the pack by a mere two points with Tornado FC, PE Stars and Sibanye FC hot on their trails. Not to be written off from the race is Bizana Pondo Chiefs and Peace Makers who are just five points behind the log leaders after this weekend’s exciting fixtures.
Tornado could have topped the standings but failed to capitalize on home ground advantage as PE Stars, who have been in fine form this season edged them 2-1 in their own backyard.
The log leaders’ 1-0 win over Matta Milan was very close and they will consider themselves lucky to collect all three points against the spirited visitors who were out to cause an upset.
Meanwhile down in the relegation battle, Future Tigers capitalized Milan’s loss to the log leaders with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Yaka United who have been blowing hot and cold this season.
Rooted at the bottom with 8 points from 19 matches, The Guys FC were not in action this weekend after their 3-1 loss to PE Stars a week ago. They are up against Future Tigers this weekend and anything less than a win could spell more disaster for the club.
