7 February 2019 – The two top teams in the Limpopo ABC Motsepe League went head to head on Tuesday, 5 February in a classic top of the table clash.

Abel Makhubela’s side couldn’t build on their 3-0 win over Giyani Hotspurs from their last outing with another let down defensively in a disappointing display as they missed an opportunity to go top of the table.

Iwasha Fhedzi, who entered the day only three points behind Madritas and in second place, managed to convert twice during an end-to-end encounter which they had a slight upper hand in chances created to their oppositions, only to see Robert Mogale and Bafana Maphanga level the game in an eight-minutes span very late in the game.

Early on in the match, Mikhado were in fine form, pressure from the visitors saw Joel Mongalo’s men struggle to string passes together.

With the two teams finding it a bit hard to create meaningful chances, half-chances were created in both ends.

After a few chances, Vutomi Ngomana put his side up 1-0 up after 33 minutes with a well-taken penalty kick. Madridta’s two centre-backs failed to clear a high ball into the box and allowed it to bounce, only for it to come off the defender’s hand and the referee Olani Kwinda pointed to the spot.

With the lead, the visitors doubled the score after 72 minutes when a perfectly weighted through pass from Ndamulelo Mugadi released Ngomana, who had to use his pace and power to hold off his marker before sending a hard and low strike to the bottom-right corner of Thabiso Mabitsela’s goals.

Ngomana was playing his second game since returning from injury and his second goal of the game was his fifth in his last two games. He scored a hat-trick in Mikhado’s 3-0 win over Hotspurs.

In the dying minutes of the game, life was injected in the contest with two goals from two successive corner kicks by Robert Mogale and Bafana Maphanga in the 79th and 87th minute respectively.

Next up, Mikhado will travel to face Ditlou on Friday, 8 February and Madridtas will return to the pitch 24 hours later in another top of the table clash when they will meet third-placed Magesi.
