6 February 2019 – The SAFA Johannesburg SAB League is set for a photo finish with just five games to go before the season concludes. Leading the pack by a very close margin of four points is Stars of Africa FC who continued their winning ways with a convincing 3-1 away win over Panorama FC.

The win was Stars’ fifth straight win, taking them to 38 points from 12 wins, two draws and a single loss. Hot on their trails is Senaoane Gunners FC who maintained pressure on the log leaders with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Kaizer Chiefs.

Another Soweto giant was put to the sword over the weekend when Orlando Pirates were handed a 5-2 drubbing by Myeni FC in what was a one-sided affair. This was Pirates’ second straight loss after their 3-2 loss to Randburg AFC a week ago.

University of Johannesburg moved up to third on the log following their 5-1 thrashing of Inqaba FC. The University side had to put their 2-0 loss to Stars of Africa behind them and did so quite well in a result that now sees them back in the title race.

Gunners and UJ will be hoping that Pimville Young Stars FC causes an upset this weekend when they face the log leaders. Young Stars may not be title chasers but their 12th placed position on the table sees them flirting with danger which should be motivation for them to pull off an upset against their more fancied opponents.
