30 January 2019 – SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan on Wednesday, 30 January 2019, met with members of the SA Masters & Legends FA at SAFA House where all parties preached the need for unity within the football structures.

The legends who included David Nyathi, who is the current secretary general and President Bhudha Mathathe, were joined in by Gauteng members of Irvine Dire, John Sibeko, Alphios Thwala and Ronnie Zondi.

Dr Jordaan emphasised the need for the veterans to unite and speak with one voice as there was always strength in speaking with one voice.

Nyathi said he owed it to Dr Jordaan for his unwavering efforts of persistently trying to unite the football family.

“I need to say this from the bottom of my heart that you are a true emissary of football whose aim is to look at the plight of former footballers and how to better their lives. We all appreciate your gallant efforts,” said the former Bafana Bafana defender.

He said he would ask all ex footballers to come together and help SAFA in the development of the sport in the country.

Dr Jordaan asked the SAMLFA to unite and speak with one voice as their history was important for the growth of future generations. He asked the legends, whether from the 1960s, 70s or 80s to have a common cause.
